How to Apply

Step 1 - Preparation

Discuss the well-being programme with all the staff / team.

Decide when to start.  Carefully count all employed staff as this will determine the cost of subscription.

Decide if payment is to be made in full when subscribing or by instalments.

Selection of Facilitators

The role of the facilitator is crucial. They should represent a cross section of the work force eg. one teacher and another member of staff.

They will be the ‘first port of call’ for communication with the school about the organisational survey and so will need to have an email address which they check regularly and access to the facilitators post on the portal.

The staff should nominate two facilitators by either having a vote or asking for volunteers.

The facilitators should have good people skills, be respected by their colleagues, experienced in their profession, but not necessarily senior in the organisation. However they will need the support of a senior member of staff.

In a large secondary school a well-being team approach may be adopted.

The role of the facilitator is to promote good practice, good communication and have a positive approach to problem solving.

They will also encourage colleagues to identify specific ways in whichwell-being can be promoted, as individuals and as groups of staff.

Their commitment and enthusiasm will determine the continuing success of the programme in the school/setting.

Dates for the Diary

The head/senior leader and facilitators meet to set the following dates.

Facilitators Induction

The programme starts with these days and should be in the term in which you wish to start.
Select one date and venue from those offered on the form.

Completion of the Survey

The survey is normally left open for 2 weeks from the date you choose to start on. It will then close automatically as long as it has a completion rate of 70% or above, if yours does not we will get in touch and put an extension on for you.

Feedback Meeting

Once the survey is completed a report of the data is compiled.  A meeting needs to be arranged between the well-being adviser, the head teacher / service and the facilitators.
Select dates within the window offered on the form.

To apply please complete and return the Application Form.

Once the form has been received in the Well-Being office the exact subscription cost will be provided.

Step 2 - Facilitators Induction

Faciltators attend their selected induction day.

This day will enable them to understand their role, its expectations and limitations. It will give them confidence to lead the staff through the completion of the survey and offer ideas and suggestions for presentations and meetings. As part of the day they will get first hand experience the OSRM survey and be able to see what other support is available.

Step 3 - Completion of the Survey

To ensure a high completion percentage rate it is advised that a meeting date and time be set aside with ICT internet facilities to complete the on-line survey.

Codes, for staff to complete the confidential on-line survey, are sent to facilitators by email prior to the dates selected on the application form.

All staff in the organisation complete a confidential and anonymous on-line questionnaire based on the areas of well-being identified by the Health and Safety Executive (demands; control; relationships; change; role; support, training and individual factors) as well as culture and personal well-being.

The report remains the property of the school/team. An electronic version can be arranged if required.

The focus for further development is discussed and a plan of action agreed.
