Lancashire County Council's Museums Loans Service

WWII Loan Box

Looking for something to make lessons more exciting? Want to introduce genuine historical artefacts into the classroom?

Lancashire Museums Loans Service provides teachers with the opportunity to develop their teaching across the curriculum with a wide range of historical artefacts, replica objects and useful resources. Loan units inspire a range of classroom activities to help you deliver desired learning outcomes with enjoyment and fun!

Why not use the Loans Service to further enhance a visit to one of our museums? Loan units related to our museums and surrounding topics are available and could be used for pre or post visit activities.

Subscription to the Loans Service is offered at very reasonable rates:

  • 1 loan £55
  • 5 loans £165
  • 10 loans £275
  • 15 loans £412

A loan is chosen by theme from our current brochure and on average consists of  two boxes and/or folders containing original and/or replica objects.  Loans are with you for at least two weeks and include free delivery and collection from your school in Lancashire (subject to availability).

We invite teaching staff to visit us at our museum stores at Stanley Street in Preston to view loan objects and discuss how teaching in your school can be further enhanced.

Alternatively, we are happy to attend school staff meetings and inset days with samples of loan resources for staff to view.
